Turkey Day

Us Walker's really broke out of our shells this Thanksgiving and did something we have never done before. We cooked part of our own Thanksgiving dinner!! Usually we bum off of our parents hard work and eat their wonderful food each year. We had our feast with some of our friends, the Dunford's. It turned out really good and was way better than our original idea of going to Golden Corral. But now there is an extremely dirty kitchen and a sink full of dishes still to do, so the Golden Corral idea doesn't seem so bad after all. This was our first Thanksgiving away from family, but we still had a great time, and had some really delicious food.
The lovely hosts.

Our pies that we baked, and all the good food.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

Twilight

A few of our friends from the ward went to Twilight last night and we had a great time. A lot of people thought the movie was just OK. But, shhh, don't tell, I actually really liked it! I think I liked it because I was expecting a complete flop and it turned out better than I thought it would. Ya, the special effects, acting, and makeup could have been better, but I did really like it.

Utah Favorites

We recently purchased our airline tickets to go home for the holidays. I have already started to create a list of "favorites". Basically all the places we will be going to when we come to visit.

Coneys Frozen Custard:

The local yummy taco place (please excuse the bare shoulders, we were on our way to go swimming:)
I know this is so unoriginal, but it is so good. Nothing beats Cafe Rio.

Ruth's diner, if it's open. It is supposedly going to be under construction when we are in town, hope not.
Gardner Village:

Can't wait to see everyone in a month!

Tis the season to be jolly...

...And jolly I have been, putting up all my Christmas decorations. Yes I realize it is still November, and Yes I realize we haven't had Thanksgiving yet. But. I. Can't. Help. Myself!!! I LOVE this time of year, and I LOVE Christmas decorations. So I decked our halls!

Still in need of some matching Christmas cups.

Yeah!

Gas prices are below $2 here. Haven't seen that in years. It was so amazing, I had to take a picture!

The hard worker

I spied on my husband while he was studying and this is what I caught him doing red handed!! Softly playing his guitar. I know deep in his heart his true passion is music and he would love nothing more than to be a musician and have his own band. But, instead, he is stuck in a little study with no windows, studying for hours upon hours a day. It's not easy on either of us, but I am so grateful he is willing to work hard and go to school so that one day we can give our kids a great life. Dan has several goals in life, and one of them is to make sure to provide and take care of his family. I feel so grateful to have such a dedicated husband.

Let's come together

I like what my friend Kristen Jensen said on her blog. Although we all have different opinions and feelings, this is a time to come together and respect each other's views. It really is amazing how far America has come by electing the first African American President.

This should cheer you up though if you're bummed about this whole thing...

Happy Halloween

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! We threw a pretty spOOky party with games and food. Dan made a pumpkin cake and I was pretty impressed, who am I to doubt my babes? It turned out really good, (but it was Paula Deen's recipe with lots of butter, so how could you go wrong?)

Angela not looking very Darth Vader-like with her pretty eyes poking out.

Luke, I am your father.

The red eye really adds some extra scariness!

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures of the kids in their costumes. Oh, and I am just going to vent for a minute. What the heck happened to trick-or-treating door-to-door? It's so sad that kids don't trick-or-treat anymore. The popular thing now is trunk-or-treating or going to the mall, and it's just not the same. I get sad knowing that my kids aren't going to get to have the same Halloween experiences as I had in my childhood. And I miss seeing those cute little kids in their costumes knocking on our door. I used to work at the mall and kids would come on Halloween and get their candy and then their mom's would shop for 30 minute while their kids are whining about how bored they are!! That is no way to spend Halloween! It's too bad a few whackos ruined it for the rest of us and made it unsafe for kids to go trick-or-treating door-to-door. I guess it's time to say goodbye to Halloween as I knew it. Is the tradition still alive? Do any of you guys still get trick-or-treaters at your house?
