Happy Halloween

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween! We threw a pretty spOOky party with games and food. Dan made a pumpkin cake and I was pretty impressed, who am I to doubt my babes? It turned out really good, (but it was Paula Deen's recipe with lots of butter, so how could you go wrong?)

Angela not looking very Darth Vader-like with her pretty eyes poking out.

Luke, I am your father.

The red eye really adds some extra scariness!

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures of the kids in their costumes. Oh, and I am just going to vent for a minute. What the heck happened to trick-or-treating door-to-door? It's so sad that kids don't trick-or-treat anymore. The popular thing now is trunk-or-treating or going to the mall, and it's just not the same. I get sad knowing that my kids aren't going to get to have the same Halloween experiences as I had in my childhood. And I miss seeing those cute little kids in their costumes knocking on our door. I used to work at the mall and kids would come on Halloween and get their candy and then their mom's would shop for 30 minute while their kids are whining about how bored they are!! That is no way to spend Halloween! It's too bad a few whackos ruined it for the rest of us and made it unsafe for kids to go trick-or-treating door-to-door. I guess it's time to say goodbye to Halloween as I knew it. Is the tradition still alive? Do any of you guys still get trick-or-treaters at your house?

Yea! What the heck! We only get a few from the ward and that is it! BORING! Definitely not the same!

We had a wonderful trick or treat, door to door holiday in Spokane. Our neighborhoods were quite crowded and it was fun. We did start the evening out with a trunk or treat at the ward building though. You just need to find the right family oriented neighborhood I guess. I glad you had a party. That sounded fun.

I haven't had one trick or treater since I got married. Kind of sad, but more candy for us. Jk. Looks like you had a fun party.

I took Aubrey door-to door. That's the only way to do it! But we do live in safe, Happy Valley.

You have to live in a housing development to get the kids at your door. Hang on to hope for the unborn. The tradition will not die.

Hey Lindsey - don't give up hope. We have people from downtown Spokane neighborhoods come out to our nice safe Liberty Lake. I always buy extra candy so that I will have enough for them all. I love the trick or treaters. All my kids still go each year - even my high schooler. Free candy? OH YEAH!

We didn't get any the last two years but we live in an apt, so wouldn't expect it! But the tradition better not be dead, my kids might be the only ones going door to door if so! I think plenty still go though, probably more of the older kids though, the mall and trunk or treating is probably nice for the younger ones who are still catching onto the idea! Besides, the whackos shouldn't be a problem if we go trick or treating with our kids and I definitely am, can't wait to trick or treat again, its been too long!
