Goodbye Jatens, we will miss you!

This Sunday was our last Sunday dinner with the Jaten family. They are moving to Mesa, Arizona on Thursday and we are going to miss them so much. I have never lived far away from my twin sister and she has truly been one of my best friends my entire life. I will miss visiting her and hanging out with the kids. Life is going to be a little bit more boring now without those two crazy little rug rats running around. This moving buisness is very heartbreaking, but we are excited for them and for all the new opportunities ahead of them. Goodbye Jatens, we love you!

Emerson HATES having his picture taken, so this shot with Unkie Dan took bribing him with a lit candle on a cake that he could blow out himself, even though it wasn't any one's birthday. That is one of Emerson's favorite things to do. After he blew the candle out, he was all confused because we didn't sing happy birthday, so we sang happy birthday to "nobody"! (I wish bribing worked as easily on Dan too, he equally hates having his picture taken:)

Here's to 4 yrs of marital bliss!

This weekend we celebrated an early 4 yr anniversary (it's really on April 22). Dan planned a fun day full of surprises. Saturday morning we went to a little restraunt called Ruth's located in the mountains. Delicious. And a fun outdoorsie autmosphere. For dinner we enjoyed a yummy Italian meal at Cucina Toscana. And the Grand Finale of the night included cheese and chocolate fondue at the Melting Pot, a place I have been wanting to try for a long time and was every bit as good as what I thought it would be! Thank you Honey for the best weekend ever and even better company. We have had a great 4 years and look forward to a great rest of eternity.


On Sunday my family threw an early Birthday party for Dan before the Jaten's move. It included ice cream cake, singing happy birthday and blowing out candles. And the BEST part of the night (besides hangin' out with the fam) was Dan's early birthday gift, a set of golf clubs! Dan's clubs got stolen last year and my sweet parents hooked him up with a new set and gave them to him early so he could enjoy them all summer long, (Dan's real Birthday isn't until July 13th) Thanks everyone. We had a great weekend!

HUGE dilemma

We thought we had this all figured out. But now we are all confused again. Dan just got accepted to Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire and we don't know what to do! We hadn't heard back from them and he interviewed there in January, so we thought we weren't getting in. (Silly us, who could turn down my man:) wait, the U of U that's who, grrr don't get me started. Now we don't know what the best choice is. What a crazy, unpredictable time in our lives.

City life vs. Country life

UT Southwestern Dallas, Texas:



Dartmouth Hanover, New Hampshire:



Here's a list of reasons we should go to each school...

Team UT Southwestern, Dallas Texas:
* FAR less expensive.
* Warmer weather all year round.
* Bigger, much more metropolitan area with lots to do. Hanover is a very, very small city with not much around (which is a huge issue for me, hello shopping malls!)
* We can afford to buy a house, or condo.
* Consistantly ranked the number one city in country for young couples to move to.
* Five hours from the beach.

Team Dartmouth, Hanover New Hampshire:
* The city is so incredibly beautiful.
* It's an Ivy league school (not what you know but who you know type thing) and has good connections with other Ivy league schools.
* 2 hours away from Boston.
* A much smaller class size 90 students compared to 250 students at UT Southwestern.

Both are really good schools, ranked about the same and in the top 20.
