Cinderella and wishing I was in St. Thomas

We had a fun girls night out last night. We all went to the Cinderella ballet! I love Cinderella, it was one of my favorite Disney shows as a kid. Dan and I were supposed to go last Saturday for Valentines Day-yes, I am a mean wife, I was going to drag my husband to the ballet. We had tickets and I was really excited, especially to get out (we had been sick and stuck at home all week.) But come Saturday night, we were still very, very sick. Dan was thrilled to have an excuse, any excuse, even being deathly ill, to get out of going, but I was disappointed. We gave our tickets to our friends, stayed in and watched The Godfather, one of Dan's favorite movies. See, I am not that mean of a wife, I am perfectly willing to watch these mafia movies.

Anyway, my sweet mom got me a ticket and we all had so much fun going together last night, minus the husbands. She was crazy, she rushed from work to meet us at the ballet and then caught a flight to St. Thomas at midnight afterward! Really, I don't feel that bad for her because she is probably lounging on the beach right now at beautiful Megan's Bay, soakin' up the sun, while we all freeze here in Utah. Is anyone else sick of winter? As a kid, I used to love winter, the snow, skiing, making snowmen, and sledding. But as I get older, the more I grow to dislike this season. After Christmas time I have had it with the cold. Now listen all of you sweater-lovers, if you were stuck in a snow storm on I-15 for four hours and had to drive around in a VW bug with no heater, you would change your mind about winter! Our solution, moving to Texas! Maybe right now is not the best time to make a decision about where to move for medical school, cause the sunny states are calling my name. It's like grocery shopping when you're hungry and all you want to buy are the sugary snacks. Dan just got an invitation to an interview at Cornell University in Manhattan, New York. It is a good school and a great opportunity but I just can't stop thinking about how cold it is there. Have any of you ever been to Manhattan in the middle of winter? Insanely cold, too cold. No thanks, it is sandal-wearing weather only for this girl. Thank goodness spring is right around the corner, and maybe then my judgment about where we should go to med. school won't be clouded by the snow.

My very talented hubby!

Is it not enough that he is super cute, extremely smart, amazing at the guitar and the funniest person I have ever met? But he can also draw. Look at this picture he just finished, it took him 5 months but it is really incredible. I am pretty proud of him and wanted to show it off!

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
One of my favorite things to do on my days off is go house decorating shopping, so yesterday I headed off to one of my favorite stores in Orem called the Busy Bitty. I left the store at about 4:15 and hit the worst of the rush hour traffic. After not moving for a while, I called Dan and asked him to watch the news for me to see what was going on. He let me know a huge semi had slid off the road blocking 3 lanes of traffic. And a bad storm was hitting as well, to slow traffic down even more. By 7:30 I had just barely past Thanksgiving Point. We were pretty much at a stand still for a couple hours. It took me almost 4 hours to get home! Boredom started to set in, when I looked over and saw the book Twilight that I have had for several months but had not yet started reading. I am a little behind on the hip things to do, like watch American Idol (this is the first season I have watched and it is now in the 7th season) blogging, and reading this very popular book Twilight. I started to read it, a little bit sckeptical thinking this is a teeny bopper romance, but I was wrong! I was captivated by the second chapter when the book introduced Edward, and as soon as traffic sped up (I am talking going 5 mph every 3 min compared to a complete stop) I was still trying to read the book. I know, I know, before you all start getting worried, I was really safe and kept my eyes on the road everytime traffic moved! Anyways, love it, I woke up this morning thinking yes! another day off to read! What do you all think of this unusual vampire romance?

Dan's ride

Slug Bug Blue!! Yesterday, Dan was driving home in the Corolla and he hit a pot hole, a big one (and if any of you have driven on the roads here in Holladay you know what I am talking about) And he popped the tire. He wasn't very happy about this, but changed it out and put on the spare. Then not even 5 minutes later, he hit another pot hole and popped the spare tire! He was really not happy this time. So this morning he had to drive me to work in his car, the old school VW bug. He complains a lot about having to drive this thing around and I have never really known how bad it was until I took a cruise in it today. FREEZING, there is not a heater, and there are holes in the floor so the wind gets in while you're driving. We are driving around and people are looking at us laughing, Dan let me know he gets that all the time. We thought the Neon was bad, but it doesn't get much worse than this. Dan looks especially funny when he is driving because he looks so big in such a small car! What a sweet guy I married, to let me take the nice Corolla with a heater and defrost, which he says feels like a Bently compared to the VW, while he freezes every morning in the bug. Now that's love.
